Reach For The Crown

Apologies if I can’t keep eye contact;
Soaking in clarity is still new to me.
Inhaled toxic half-truths so long;
This breath of fresh air feels like choking.

Hearing repeated affirmation for the 1st time.
And the waves say it’s going to be alright.

Reach for the crown,
Your golden light, my tired eyes.
Reach for the crown,
A simple grasp, a heart collapsed.

It’s not like me to look away from a good thing.
But I’m blinding myself with these dream nights & daydreams.
Cascading memories cover pristine settings;
And it’s been getting easier to breathe.

Hearing repeated affirmation for the 1st time;
And the waves say it’s going to be ok.
Hearing penetrative words locked in my mind;
Your last few got me carried away.

Reach for the crown,
Your golden light, my tired eyes.
Reach for the crown,
A simple grasp, a heart collapsed.

Another line above these eyes;
Another box checked off,
Another reason why,
With every hour of sleep lost.
