I miss when you would send me pictures.
Irreverence to norms;
Laughing off the shakes.
A mistake to expect much more;
A treasure to aimlessly partake.
A glow from my pocket,
A second of your time.
For a second,
That second was mine.
And then it manifests.
A call.
A “yes.”
That’s all.
That’s everything.
Absence of designation,
Except you as my driver.
A night out, free of doubt;
“No. 2, my Corpse Reviver.”
Home away from alone,
Eyes set to inspire.
Traipsing every crack in your road;
Eyes begin to grow tired.
“Would it be ok,
If we just stayed in tonight?”
You thought I’d never ask;
And it’s all we have left.
And if that’s all I ever get,
I’ll be thankful evermore.
Because your fleeting adoration
Is all I’ve had the right to ask for.
Because that’s what it was.
And it is what it is.
The glow in my eyes matches my pocket;
Vacant. Void. Invalid.
I miss when you would send me pictures.
